For those competitors with less experience with navigation and route planning in the mountains there will be a number of workshops on the Saturday morning run by representatives from some of our sponsors and from experienced competitors in other events. These workshops are only available to those choosing to take on the Short Score event.
The exact format of the Workshops will be published at a later date but they will likely cover elements of the following subjects;
- Mountain safety, emergency procedures and first aid
- Mountain navigation
- Route planning for navigation events
The workshops will conclude with a session covering the event map. This will provide some advice and tips directly relating to the event you are about to undertake. This will hopefully provide you with some guidance as to what to expect. Numerous members of the event team will also be available on the start line to assist short score competitors with planning their route prior to them setting off.
In addition to the Saturday morning workshops there will be two ‘talks’ open to all competitors. The Friday night session will cover kit and include a demonstration, provided by one of our sponsors.
The Saturday evening session will be a talk from an experienced runner discussing their progression in the sport towards significant achievements in long events. There will also be a brief coverage of next steps following the event with an outline on other events available.
